چکیده
Background: The complication of frontal recess brings many difficulties to the doctor’s surgery operations, and comprehensive understanding of frontal recess anatomy is essential for the successful treatment of subjects with frontal sinus disease. The purpose of the study is to describe the feature of the 3D model of frontal recess, and obtain the true image of the important anatomical structures of the frontal recess region to conduct surgery. Methods: A retrospective study of thirty Chinese subjects (60 sides) without frontal disease underwent spiral computed tomography scans, and multiplanar reconstruction images were performed on a computer workstation. The structure and parameter of the frontal recess, the sgger nasi cell and adhere style of the uncinate process were recorded precisely. Results: After the reconstruction, a 3D model very close to the true state of the nasal cavitysinuses cell was obtained, in which parts of the frontal recess can be clearly identified as agger nasi cell, frontal cell and other important structures. Conclusions: This study developed an advanced technique and measurement from 3D reconstructed images of the frontal sinus. The projects resulted in better preoperative subject counseling and in predicting postoperative improvement in clinical status.

Frontal recess anatomy in Japanese subjects and its effect on the development of frontal sinusitis: computed tomography analysis
BACKGROUND Comprehensive understanding of frontal recess anatomy is essential for the successful treatment of patients with frontal sinus disease. This study was designed to determine the prevalence of specific frontal recess cells in Japanese subjects and the association of these cells with the development of frontal sinusitis. METHODS Frontal recess anatomy was analyzed using high-resolutio...

OBJECTIVE Radiographic frontal recess and sinus anatomic measurements were obtained to evaluate the feasibility of the endoscopic modified Lothrop procedure. STUDY DESIGN Computed tomography anatomic study. MATERIALS AND METHODS Computed tomography (CT) scans from 97 patients, 39 male and 58 female, were analyzed in the sagittal plane. Four anatomic parameters were measured 1) midsagittal t...
متن کاملAge Differences of Human Frontal Sinus Measurements using CT Scan
Background and Objectives: The frontal sinus is regarded as one of the human paranasal sinuses located in the frontal bone as a triangular-shaped cavity, which originates as separated space from the anterior ethmoid cells. Computed Tomography (CT) is a completely non-destructive technique that uses a high density of contrast to identify the air inside any bony sinus with soft tissue demarcated ...
متن کاملUnilateral transnasal endoscopic approach to frontal sinuses: Draf IIc
For chronic sinusitis surgery, the Draf III approach provides a common median drainage pathway for bilateral frontal sinuses from orbit to orbit. The Draf IIb provides unilateral drainage from orbit to septum. In several cases, inclusion of the nasal and frontal sinus septum in a Draf IIb was advantageous without extension to the opposite frontal recess. The proposed nomenclature is Draf IIc. T...
متن کاملSpatial anatomy of the nasofrontal recess on the CT using multiplanar reconstruction technique.
OBJECTIVE To clarify the spatial orientation relevant to the endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) for the frontal sinus. METHODS Various dimensions of structures around the frontal recess were measured on 256 CT images of 128 Japanese patients using the multiplanar reconstruction technique. Measurements done in this study were: the distance from the nostril to the narrowest point of the frontal rec...
